The Story of YOU

One of the recurring themes on Out From the Inside is that sharing your story creates connection and understanding. The transformative power of our authentic interaction with others make LGBTQ people healers and teachers. We have opportunities every day to use the power of our stories to make a positive impact on the collective consciousness. YAY!

Whether it’s sharing a brief moment in one-on-one conversation or making a video that brings your story to the world, you have the power to create change. Just by being you.

On my radio show this week, we’ll be talking about the power of our stories with Nathan Manske, creator of  I’m From Driftwood- True stories by gay people from all over.

If you are not familiar with the project, I urge you to check out the website. The first time I visited the site, I ended up spending hours watching stories filled with courage, hope, strength and humor. Captivating and moving stuff, and well worth some of your precious internet time.

We’ll be discussing what inspired Nathan to create the project and his personal story. Nathan will also give us his experiential insight into how best to frame a story in a way that touches people. We’ll also be taking your calls. I’d love to hear from those who have participated in the project, as well as your reactions to the videos.

Absolutely Positive- Leah and the miracle of fluidity

What an absolutely positive week! My email inbox is absolutely bloated with positivity! Thanks to all of you who have responded to the Absolutely Positive contest so far. There’s still time to enter before the drawing on Wednesday. Details HERE. You should ABSOLUTELY check it out.

Ok. Let’s face it. Some days just suck. Sometimes things happen in life that derail even the most forward-thinking people. Whether it’s a momentary flash of the red hot and blues or a life-changing bummer, the trick is to have mechanisms in place that will help you turn things around- hopefully in a big old hurry. There are hundreds of things you can do when it feels like only an IV drip of rainbows and kittens and puppies and unicorns will help. You can meditate, you can do affirmations, you can exercise- they all help and they all work.

The number one thing I turn to when the chips are so down I can’t even find them is connection with others. Sometimes I just need to talk it out. When it’s time to focus on non-sucky things, I’m lucky to have a fistful of folks that I am absolutely positive will help me do that. So in keeping with the show theme this week, I’d like to introduce you to one of those folks. Her name is Leah Carey and I’m grateful she’s my friend.

Leah writes a blog called The Miracle Journal where she documents the everyday occurrences that remind her of how blessed she is. I’d say that’s an absolutely positive way to live. Because I like this idea so much, I’ve invited Leah to join me on Out From the Inside this Wednesday.

There is also a second and equally awesome reason I’ve invited Leah to join me on the show. A couple of months ago, her daily blog entry was called “The Miracle of Fluidity”.  The post was a candid and revealing glimpse into her journey of self-discovery and how she overcame the internal struggle and shame she felt about being bisexual.

So it’s  two-for one Wednesday! Leah and I will be talking about the B in LGBT, AND being positive. YAY! I hope you can join us!

I’ll also be featuring some of the contest entries and talking to some of YOU! More on that tomorrow night!

Absolutely Positive Contest Details

Ooops. I announced a contest on my radio show today and I got so excited about it that I forgot to give all the details. So here goes:

The contest is called Absolutely Positive. It starts today (May 18) and continues until midnight on May 24th. The winners will be announced on the May 25th show.

There are 2 ways to win.

1. Send an email to radio@karenmccrocklin.com describing how you incorporate positive messages in your daily life or submit a tip for how we can jointly spread a positive message of love and acceptance.

2. Sign up for my (extremely) occasional email newsletter on my website homepage

I’ll draw names from the submissions and the winners will receive one of the following: A USB wristband that contains the audio recordings of all the author lectures at the 2011 Hay House I Can Do It conference in Toronto. Packed with over 40 hours of programming from over 25 authors, this will rock your world! The second prize is a copy of Am I Being Kind by Michael J. Chase and a special wristband Michael gives away at his events that will remind you to ask yourself that very important question.

Also, I’d like to invite a listener who submits their special brand of positivity to join me as a guest on the show.  Teaching and sharing is what it’s all about and there is nothing I love more than talking about how we are co-creating a revolution of love, positivity and acceptance. If you are interested in joining me on the show, be sure to include that in your email.

So that’s the dealio- YAY!!! I can’t wait to hear from you!

Wristbands, DVD’s, Kindess, Open Doors, Coming Out and Canada

Yep. I did it. And I’m on FIRE. There is sososo much to talk about this week after attending the Hay House I Can Do It conference in Toronto that I got excited and forgot to write a blog post. Ooops. Given that’s it’s 3am, I think it might be prudent to change things up a bit this week.

THEREFORE-

It is with great anticipation and pleasure that I present a pictorial guide to this week’s edition of Out From the Inside. That’s all you’re getting for now. Tune in and it will all make sense. I promise. MUAHAHA…..
