Out Allies and More!

Happy National Coming Out Day! What’s your next step? We all know that coming out is not a finite process. It’s a lifetime of choosing to be authentic and honoring yourself by being open about who you are. For me, that extends far beyond being open about being LGBT or a straight ally.  Its really about being honest about something about which you are afraid that others might  judge you. It’s telling YOUR truth! The freedom and happiness that you feel when your secrets are out of the closet is not just for LGBT people. Today is your day to share yourself and fly your flag, whatever it may be. UBU, baby!

On tomorrow’s edition of Out from the Inside, I’ll be talking about some terrific organizations and resources where you can find support in your personal coming out journey. In the first part of the hour, I’ll be joined by my friend Kim Pearson of TransYouth Family Allies. You may remember Kim from a terrific show we did back in April. I’m thrilled to have her back!  In addition to all of her great work with the Transgender community, Kim has a long history with PFLAG, (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). We’ll be talking about how important the support of allies of all kinds are to the great big LGBT and Allies community.

I invite all of you to call us and share your stories of hope and courage and support. If you have resources to share, want some support or have questions or comments, CALL ME!! 866-254-1579 tol free in the U.S. and Canada. International callers dial your country code then 760-918-4300.

I’ll also be giving more details on the UBMe contest. Lots of you have already entered, but there is still time to win a chance to co-host the show on November 2nd. If you haven’t already done so, you MUST send an email to radio@karenmccrocklin.com to enter. Facebook posts don’t count because I’m having a hard time keeping track of all of you. Tune in tomorrow for more details and remember- your chances of winning are SIGNIFICANTLY increased if you have called the show in the past. You can call me tomorrow for extra bonus points! I’ll be announcing the winner on October 26th.

Lots more to come- tomorrow… Tune in and turn on! 9a Pacific, 10am Mountain, 11am Central, Noon Eastern.

Love,

Karen

I DO- Do you?

Big show Wednesday! Marriage, relationships and a special guest who is an animal communicator- After all, getting an animal is like getting married, right? Til death do you part.

Gay marriage, Same-sex marriage, call it what you want- I just call it marriage. It wasn’t very long ago when gay people believed that the legal and social protections of marriage were a vague and distant notion. Today, it is possible to be legally married in many countries and in the United States in six states- with more on the way. All of this is changing the dialogue about relationships and what it means to be committed.

On Wednesday’s edition of Out from the Inside, we’ll be discussing marriage, how relationships can teach you about yourself and what re-defining the term marriage means for the future.

If you are legally married or considering it, I’d like to hear from you. If you are dealing with a relationship issue or want some encouragement or feedback, please give me a call.

I’ll also be announcing the details of the UBMe contest. Loads of you have sent emails saying you want to participate and we’ll be talking about how the winner will be selected. And don’t forget- bonus points in the contest go to anyone who has ever called the show before. That means you have 2 more weeks to call to increase your chances of winning. Pick up the phone baby!

In the first half-hour I will be talking with my friend Asia Voight. Asia is an animal communicator and will be hosting a FREE webcast on Hay House Radio on October 25. Details HERE  Asia’s story is fascinating and you’ll like hearing what she has to say. Maybe we can convince her to do a little demo! All it takes is your call.

So that’s the news this week- Thanks for tuning in! Can I tell you again how much I adore each and every one of you? Because I DO!

UBMe – CONTEST DETAILS

You?

Announcing an EPIC contest! On November 2, 2011, someone will be hosting my Hay House Radio show Out From the Inside. Question is, who will it be?

I love this community. The input and participation of each and every one of you makes hosting my radio show an exercise in gratitude . It also makes it a helluva lot of fun. Your support and willingness to tune in each week has been critical to creating a show that is’t available anywhere else on the planet. It’s OUR show and we are doing something amazing together. We’re changing the conversation from what we want to who we want to be.

I am in the process of writing the episode guides for November and I’ve decided to do something a little bit out of the box. Let’s call it out from the inside of the box. After talking to so many of you, I know that there are loads of folks who would make great radio hosts. So…. Let’s give someone a shot! Announcing the UBMe Contest! You don’t have to cut your hair and bleach it, you don’t have to learn a fake Texas drawl, all you need is a desire to host a radio program and a little bit of luck.

The winner of the contest will have the opportunity to host my show and interview a special guest, uh….. ME!

Here are the rules: You must be available on Wednesday November 2nd at 9am Pacific, 10am Mountain, 11am Central and Noon Pacific. International listeners, please do the math on your particular time zone.   The other rule is that you must be willing to ask your own interview questions as well as questions submitted by the Facebook community. That’s it!

Now comes the question of how to judge the contest. I sort of pulled the trigger on the contest idea before I had the whole thing worked out. That’s where you come in. My first inclination is to say “convince me”, but that probably doesn’t have quite enough structure because I know that lots of you are pretty convincing. Perhaps we should start with a conversation about how to judge the winner. We could do a random drawing, but that doesn’t seem like much fun. We could ask people to write a post about why they want to host and have the community vote on it, there are all sorts of ways to do it. I’d like your input.
The only thing that matters to me is that we figure out a way to give bonus points or additional entries to people who I’ve actually spoken to before. After all, I’m giving you free reign to ask away, and there is something comforting about knowing a bit about you too. Therefore, calling the show between now and the time the winner is announced on October 26th show will definitely help your cause. Hint, hint….

So how do we do this? Step one is to send an email to radio@karenmccrocklin.com letting me know you are interested. As for the rest of it, let’s discuss. Let’s talk amongst ourselves, let’s chew on it. Or whatever. You can use the comments section on Facebook to register your opinion. The comments section is closed on the website because I was getting too many Viagra offers.. :)

Fire away! We’ll figure out the rules by next Wednesday and you’ll have a couple of weeks to enter.

UBMe? Yay!

UBU Baby!

Hi there! I broke my website and haven’t been posting new blogs about upcoming shows in the last few weeks. We’re in the process of updating the site and things should get better soon. I’ve received quite a few messages about the fact that the home page says that the nest show is airing on December 31st 1969. If nothing else, it makes me laugh!

Help is on the way and the site will be updated soon. In the mean time, tune in Wednesday for a new episode of Out From the Inside  This week’s edition is entitled UBU and it’s all about, well… YOU!

I’ll also be

Mind Your Own Life!

Boy have I been missing y’all. After a two-week road trip across America with a friend from England, I’m excited to be back on the air on Wednesday. And thanks to everyone who listened to to the fabulous 3 second show last week. The hurricane winds in D.C. blew me away. Literally. I didn’t realize we were off the air and kept taking for quite a while. I’m not exactly sure what I said, but I am sure it was fascinating. :)

The good news is that I’ll be back in the studio on Wednesday and all will be well.  I have a terrific guest this week and you will definitely want to tune in and hear his story! His name is Aaron Anson and he is the author of a new book called Mind Your Own Life.

Here’s a link to his website: http://www.aaronanson.com/Mind_Your_Own_Life/The_Book.html Check it out and tune in Wednesday at 9am Pacific, 1oam Mountain, 11am Central and Noon Eastern.
